The SC-40 type scanners are low cost custom scanners designed for use in extremely high accuracy and repeatability applications. A large size mirror (30×20×5mm or larger) is mounted on an open mirror frame using flex bearings. The construction is rugged and guarantees low wobble (<1 arc sec.), low jitter (<0.001%), and good resistance to shock and vibrations. The open frame assembly allows the use of both sides of the mirror. The scanners can operate at a scan angle of 45° peak-to-peak optical and with an amplitude stability of more than 99.99%, making it most valuable for large optical beams or simultaneous imaging of multiple optical beams.

The SC-40 type scanners operate at any one fixed frequency from the frequency range of 20Hz to 250Hz. Operation at resonant frequency is sustained by a feedback amplifier type ED driver or the AGC driver, using the scanner as a frequency source. The AGC driver also provides a higher amplitude stability (0.01%) and a position output signal. The PLD-1S driver will phase lock the scanner to an external clock signal. The PLD-2S driver will phase lock two scanners as a "master/slave" scanning system and the PLD-2SXY driver will phase lock two scanners as an "X-Y" scanning system.

The scanners are used in various industrial and scientific fields: optical lithography, metrology, quality inspection, photo typesetting spectroscopy, 3D imaging, machine vision, materials research, environmental research, web inspection and defect detection, and laser marking systems.

Special vane configurations, modulating waveforms and shapes are available as a special order (consult EOPC). Glass mirrors are standard. Metal mirrors, gratings, lenses, or other optical attachments are available on special order. Also available are mirrors for IR-VIS-UV applications. Drive electronics with different package, regulation and power supply options are available. Special pricing is also available for OEM applications.
