EOPC offers a wide range of standard and custom polygon scanners that are used in the laser industry for printing and marking, scanning, inspection and measurement, and image projection. The rotating polygon mirror deflects a beam along a line and in the process transforms the beam from a static source of light into a moving light source (for example, in laser illumination devices and laser printers). In the reverse case, a static sensor can be used to scan along a line (for example, an infrared camera). Many applications perform both optical detection and deflection at the same time (for example, surface testing devices, barcode readers, 3D scanners, etc.).
Our high quality polygon wheels can be manufactured from brass, nickel, and copper, however, the majority are manufactured from aluminum. Generally, aluminum polygons are used in barcode readers. Brass polygons are often employed in the printing and display industry. Nickel polygons, which reduce light scattering, are typically used in metrological applications. Copper polygons offer exceptional heat resistance (up to 40kW) and are frequently used for CO2 laser applications. In addition, surface coatings are applied according to the customer's specifications. Fused silica (SiO2) is usually coated to aluminum polygons, but quartz, gold, and other reflection-enchanced coatings are available. EOPC's polygon scanners can be designed for use in various optical spectrums, including the visible and infrared regions.
