The FM-1600 is a remotely controlled two pole, eight position fiber optic switch, designed to use in FTIR spectroscopy. It switches both ends of the optical path eliminating the spurious spectral distribution problems encountered when using fiber optic bundle source distribution to the sensor array. The multiplexer enables the user to insert one of eight different sensors or optical circuits between the optical source and the FTIR spectrometer. It is equipped with ST optical connectors and may be used with any fiber type with core sizes ranging from 200 to 600 microns. The unit contains no wavelength selective optical components and therefore does not introduce spectral artifacts into the measurements process. To minimize etalon interference effects, all internal fiber endfaces are domed. The front panel keyboard has a RS-232 port, or optional RS-422 or RS-485. Up to 100 unique addresses may be assigned for the control of multiple units.
