The Electro-Optic modulators, used in the above E-O modulating systems, consist of non-linear optics (crystals), utilizing the tranverse Pockels effect, for intensity, amplitude, frequency or phase modulation. Precisely oriented, the crystals are mounted in thick-walled aluminum cylinders to minimize thermal gradients. Low absorption index matching fluid, combined with a fluid path length of less than 2mm, ensures high optical power transmission capability with no mode distortion or blooming.
